What is EFT

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) tapping is a simple mind-body tool that has been shown to be effective in releasing stress from the energy system.

EFT looks at and seeks to address imbalances within the person’s energy system, as well as the energetic influence of thoughts, beliefs, and emotions on the body. The prevailing premise of EFT is that the flow and balance of the body’s electromagnetic and more subtle energies are important for physical, spiritual, and emotional health, and for fostering well-being.

EFT uses the ancient Chinese meridian system with a gentle tapping procedure which stimulates designated meridian end points on the face and body while focusing on issues of emotional intensity in order to release the intensity and reframe the issues. When applying EFT in a session, the client does the tapping on the client’s own body and the practitioner helps guide the session by instructing the client where to tap while saying specific phrases based on the issues that are being worked on.

While it’s not possible to provide any guarantees, some individuals report having profound occurrences using EFT and can experience a sense of calm, well-being or a shift in perspective depending on the target of tapping.

According to Gary Craig, the founder of EFT, “The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.” Tapping on the acupressure meridian points is believed to help resolve the disruption and the results can be remarkable. Tapping can also be described as a combination of ancient Eastern Chinese acupressure with modern Western Psychology, since we are using a combination of meridian points and affirmations.
